Welcome parents and students to Fort Settlement and 8th Grade ELA. I have been teaching ELA at the Fort since 2012.

     I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and later received a Master's in Educational Administration and Supervision from The University of Houston - Victoria. I have been married for over 30 years and have lived in Sugar Land all of those years. My wife and I raised two daughters who attended Fort Bend schools and who now live and work away from home. I really enjoy cooking, reading non-fiction, traveling to new places - mostly beaches, and maintaining tropical plants and flowers. I am also very passionate about animals and animal rescue. We currently have 4 rescue pets - one terrier mix and three adorable cats.

     In addition to teaching 8th ELA, I also serve as a co-adviser along with Mrs. Carol Odle for the FSMS chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).  NJHS is a service organization for 8th grade students who have demonstrated the five pillars of NJHS during their middle school years: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character.  Students are invited to apply for membership during the spring of their 7th grade year, and those students who are inducted will serve during their 8th grade year.

     Teaching Philosophy: I believe all students can learn and succeed when equipped with proper resources, a supportive learning community, and a teacher who believes in their success.  I look forward to another great year at The Fort!
