• GMS Student Council

  • A student council is a group of student leaders who work with an adult advisor to provide means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, develop leadership abilities in school and community, and help increase school involvement and school pride.

    The Macario Garcia Middle School Student Council will:

    • Promote Citizenship: involving students in meaningful activities
    • Promote Leadership: coordinating school-sponsored student activities.
    • Promote Values: helping students promote school loyalty, pride, and patriotism

    Student Body President- (Only 7th and 8th Graders can apply)

    8th Grade President- (Only 8th Graders can apply)

    7th Grade President- (Only 7th Graders can apply)  

    6th Grade President- (Only 6th Graders can apply)  

    Treasurer and Historian- (Only 7th and 8th Graders can apply )

    Secretary- (6, 7, 8th Graders can apply)

     Student Council Role and Responsibilities

     Student Body President

    • Leads the general meetings.

    • Makes sure all events are planned together as a team.

    • Helps guide the group to stay organized and on track.

    Grade-Level Presidents

    • Represent their grade (6th, 7th, or 8th).

    • Help decide on fun activities like Spirit Week and grade-level events.

    Historian

    • Keeps track of what the council does.

    • Takes notes, photos, and helps record events and activities for memories.

    Secretary

    • Writes down what happens in meetings.

    • Helps with announcements, reminders, and keeping information organized.

    Treasurer

    • Helps plan fundraisers.

    • Keeps track of money raised and makes sure funds are used responsibly.

    ** Please note that executive position decisions are based on student voting and teacher recommendations/voting.
