• About the PSAT 8/9

The PSAT 8/9 (Preliminary SAT) is part of the College Board’s SAT Suite of Assessments and is designed for students in 8th and 9th grade. It measures the reading, writing, and math skills students are learning in school—skills that build a strong foundation for future college and career readiness.

At Sartartia Middle School, all 8th grade students take the PSAT 8/9 each fall. The test provides early feedback on a student’s academic progress and helps identify areas for growth.

    What to Expect

    • Sections: Reading, Writing and Language, and Mathematics

    • Format: Online test taken on district-issued laptops

    • When: Administered each October (specific dates are shared by the campus prior to testing)

    • Where: On campus at Sartartia Middle School

Note: Students who believe they may need testing accommodations (such as extended time or text-to-speech) must apply through the College Board Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD).

    • Accommodations must be approved in advance by the College Board, even if students receive similar supports for STAAR.

    • To begin the process, contact your Campus Assessment Coordinator for guidance on how to submit an SSD request.
