I teach 8th grade ELA here at SMS. I have taught middle school English since 2014. After graduating magna cum laude from Texas A&M University - Texarkana with a Master's degree in history and English in 2003, I adjuncted freshman US History at HCC from 2004 - 2014.

I am looking forward to another great year of reading, writing and helping our students gain the skills they need for high school success. I believe strongly that teachers impart knowledge, not beliefs, to their students!

When I'm not teaching or grading papers, I relax by hiking in the mountains of Colorado, and (occasionally), the mosquito-infested swamps of Texas.

Fun Fact: I am certified in front end and full stack development and enjoy creating web apps to solve practical problems. I also enjoy learning obscure conlangs like toki pona and Esperanto.
