Hello! I am Supriya Jha. I’m excited to be working with and learning from such a motivating and hard working group of educators and students. I have been teaching in Fort Bend ISD for fourteen years. I am a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in Consumer Science and Merchandising and a Masters in Education. I began my teaching career in Lexington Creek Elementary where I taught first grade and was a Reading Recovery teacher for nine years. Reading Recovery training acted as a springboard to help get all of my students to a strong start in literacy. I believe in being a life long learner so I revamp and revise my instruction each year as I learn new tools and strategies to catapult my students on their path of academic growth. In 2017, SMS piloted a new course called Middle School Discovery. I was one of the three teachers given the opportunity to create a curriculum for this course. Jag Discovery is a transition class designed to help our students ease into middle school with confidence and success. Through our curriculum, we will equip them with the skills and habits they need to do their best in all their classes and life in general. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking and working out with my husband, Kirit. I love traveling, reading, visiting friends and family and watching movies. I’m excited to be part of SMS and looking forward to having a great and successful year!!
