With a background in science and engineering, I started my teaching career as a high school math teacher in 2016. This is my third year teaching middle school math at Fortbend ISD. I love teaching and enjoy the happiness and satisfaction of passing knowledge to students. I came to the US in 2003 and received my Ph.D degree in Geophysics from University of Memphis. From 2008 to 2015, I had been working as a geophysicist for geophysical service companies, where I used mathematics as a tool to image the subsurface of the Earth. Before coming to the US, I received my Bachelor and Master degrees in Geology in China and had been working as a geologist on petroleum exploration.
In the 2019-2020 School year, I teach Math 7 Pre-AP, Math 7 Grade Level, and Contest Math. As a math teacher, my goal is always to help each student in my class to reach his or her full potential in Math. Although the definition of success for each individual student may be different, I believe that everyone at my classes will succeed! Without their success, I would never succeed!
In this school year, I am also the sponsor of the SMS Math Club where students will learn more in-depth mathematical content than what they learn from their regular math classes. Students will receive intensive training in higher level critical thinking in math problem solving. Why not give it a try? You will not regret if you decide to join this club!
