Welcome to PreAP Biology at Fort Settlement!
PreAP Biology Teachers:
Karen Staley
Heather McCallum
The PreAP Biology course at FSMS follows the FBISD Scope and Sequence and the TEKS to ensure that all students are well prepared to move onto higher level science courses and prepare for the EOC in the Spring of 2025.
As with all high school credit courses, the workload and expectations are much higher than for a regular biology course or 8th grade level course. Students will be expected to do a significant amount of independent reading and study outside the class so that they may keep up with the pace of the curriculum and have a strong base for mastery of each concept.
All materials for the class will be located in schoology each week in addition to all the materials the students receive in class to build their interactive biology notebooks. These notebooks are essential in the preparation for quizzes, tests, labs, district assessments, and all exams.
The schoology calendar will show upcoming quizzes, any homework/project due dates, and upcoming tests. There will also be weekly folders in each unit on schoology. Weekly folders will reside inside each Unit Folder which are located in the Grading Period Folders in Course Content. Per district and FSMS policy safety in the laboratory setting is extremely important. There will be a link in the Parent information folder for the digital safety contract that must be signed by student and parent and submitted digitally by August 12, 2024.
