Greeting sixth and seventh grade parents, my name is Alvin J Henry Jr. and I have been teaching for thirty-two years, twenty of which have been here at Lake Olympia.  I received my B.A. in Education from Harding University, Arkansas and my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University in Austin, Texas.

I enjoy teaching and inspiring my students to improve their skills in all areas academically and socially, so they can become productive citizens. I haa wonderful family; wife Yvette of thirty years, and we have two beautiful children, Alexandra and A.J. I'm a Master Segregant in the United States Army Reserve with 35 years of service. I am a member of the Greatest Fraternity in the world;Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. In my leisure time I enjoy running, biking, cross-fit and competing in duathlons.

This year, we will be using Schoology to communicate in short informal and formal discussions about a variety of literature and media.  We will learn to improve our writing skills and  work of others through peer review using questing and discussions. You will submit assignments and essays in Schoology and there will usually be a rubric attached to the assignment ensuring students turn in their best work. We will also take quizzes from time to time in Schoology.

 It will be my joy and pleasure to have your children in my class. We will have a great school year.
