Degrees and Certifications:

Kirsten Jordon

I began directing the Falcon Choirs during the 2019-2020 school year.  I love singing, teaching music literacy, performing and competing with my choirs.

I received my BA in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Virginia Tech in beautiful Blacksburg, Virginia. After graduating in 1993, I moved to the Houston area and began my years of teaching music, directing choirs, and singing.   I have taught high school and middle school choir and elementary music,  including several years at Austin Parkway Elementary and  Highlands Elementary in Fort Bend ISD.

In addition to public school teaching, I spent 7 years directing the Fort Bend Boy Choir’s Town Choir, created a Sugar Land community youth and children’s choir Cantate, and started a Chamber Choir which includes singers in local high school as well as adults from the area. Always singing, I spent 8 years with the Houston Symphony Chorus (where I met my husband) and 14 years professionally with the Bach Society Houston.  Throughout the years, I have performed a wide variety of genres, including musicals, operas, oratorios, and large symphonic choral works as both choir member and soloist.  I feel privileged to have worked with some of the great choral conductors of the world, including the late Robert Shaw, Peter Schrier, Andre Thomas and Nicholas McGegan, to name a few.

After coordinating the district’s elementary honor choir program in 2014 and 2015, I had the honor of conducting the 2016 FBISD Elementary Honor Choir at TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association’s state conference.). This was the first FBISD choir to be invited to perform at the state convention.  During  March of 2024, I am excited to take our own Varisty Treble ladies to perform at the 2024 Southweestern American Choral Directors Association (SWACDA) convention in Dnever Colorado.

My family has lived in Sugar Land since 1998 and my husband Jim and I married in 1996.  We have 4 musical children and quirky and loveable Bassett Hound, Maggie.
