Greetings Fellow Longhorns!
I am Dionna Alvarez, the 8th Grade Assistant Principal. This is my fourth year at Baines, and I am excited to help our 8th graders prepare for their transition to high school and have a final year at the Ranch.
This is my eleventh year in education and with Fort Bend ISD. I have experience as a math teacher, department head, and EDGE master teacher. I have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Political Science from University of Texas at Dallas (Whoosh) and a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from University of Houston (Go Coogs).
I believe my primary role as an educator is to inspire students to develop a love for learning and a curiosity about how and why things happen. As an administrator, I aspire to help teachers grow in their capacity to reach and support all students.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, eating, lifting weights, reading, and running. I have an amazing husband, a fourteen-year-old dog, and a two-year-old puppy with whom I love spending quality time.
