This is my seventeenth year of teaching, and my fifteenth year here at Highlands Elementary. I taught first grade for two years in San Antonio, and I taught fourth grade for three years here at Highlands. This will be my twelfth year teaching fifth grade. I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Brigham Young University in 1989. I grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, but I have lived in Texas since 1990. I have four wonderful daughters ages 20, 25, 27, and 30. They all attended Highlands Elementary. I lived in Peru from 1985-1986, so I speak fluent Spanish. I enjoy spending time with my family, taking my dog on walks, hiking, running, biking, reading, singing, and playing the piano. I ran my 20th marathon this year in 2020! I also qualified for the Boston Marathon which I ran in April of 2011.
Highlands has been home to me since I first moved here. I served on the PTO board for several years, played the piano at festivals, and volunteered when I could in the classroom. I am very grateful to teach here full time now with such a wonder staff. My goal is to create a safe learning environment so each student will be able to achieve their fullest potential.
