My name is Tammie Smith and I am the Campus Compliance Coordinator at Highlands Elementary. My role in the school has several facets; I am in charge of facilitating all special education meetings. I coordinate and train teachers for state testing including STAAR and TELPAS. I work to identify students that are struggling academically by helping to develop a plan of action that will allow children to overcome struggles and become successful in the classroom. I am also the 504 Coordinator.
I am a graduate of FBISD, Clements High School. I have been in the district ever since I earned my teaching certificate with a minor in Special Education from Houston Baptist University in 1994. I did my student teaching at Highlands and learned a great deal from this wonderful school! I was in the classroom for 20 years and taught Second, Third, Fifth Grade and Special Education. I earned my Master of Education Principal Leadership in 2013.
