Hi Scotties!

My name is Suzanne Sheppard and I am so excited to be a part of the amazing, talented and dedicated second grade team at Highlands Elementary. I teach math and science to our little Scotties.

I was born and raised in Houston and I come from a family that always valued education. My mother was a director of curriculum for Fort Bend ISD for twenty years. I attended Bellaire High School and got my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. I went on to get my Masters from the University of Texas- Austin in Educational Administration. 

I am married to Malte, an accountant from Germany and a mom to two boys, Jacob and Toby. We enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants and playing with our two huge German Shepherd rescue dogs, Lance and Max. 

I absolutely adore second grade. My students know me as fun and silly at times but always expecting the best of them. I believe that we are all life-long learners, so I encourage my students to make mistakes and learn from them. I try to make the content relevant and incorporate different learning styles into my instruction. 

I believe that my students' parents are their first and most important teachers in life, so I aim to partner with them to help all my students succeed. I strive to be available for any questions or concerns that arise. Don't hesitate to reach out!
