First Colony Middle School National Junior Honor Society


  • NJHS Logo The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.

     
    National Junior Honor Society is a service organization made of FCMS outstanding 8th grade students who earned an invitation to join based upon their cumulative academic performance. Students in National Junior Honor Society earn service hours by volunteering their time for in-school activities and outside of school. 
     
     
     
     
     

    To qualify for an invitation to become a member of NJHS:

    • Must maintain a cumulative, overall middle school average of 85.0% in ALL courses with numerical grades and have no failing final grades in any courses. 
    • Must have been enrolled at the school for at least one full semester.
    • Must abide by the First Colony Middle School NJHS Chapter By-Laws.
    • Must demonstrate sound and effective leadership, admirable citizenship, and trustworthy character at First Colony Middle School and in the community. 
    • Must pay the chapter dues of $20 prior to your induction (after acceptance into NJHS).
    • Must participate in and have transportation to any NJHS Chapter community service projects.
    • Students will be invited to apply to NJHS during the months of March or April if they meet the qualifications.

    1st Semester service hours are due at the January 12 meeting.  Please bring documentation of your hours!
