¡Bienvenidos!  I am excited to meet my new students this year and immerse them in Spanish language and culture on a journey to become global citizens. 

I am from Galveston, TX and grew up in Santa Fe, TX.  During my undergraduate studies at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor I studied in Querétaro, México at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro while living with an amazing Mexican family. 

I began my teaching career in 1998 at Harby Jr. High in Alvin ISD where I taught junior high Spanish for High School credit.  After teaching for three years, I  completed my master's degree at Middlebury College's Spanish School in Madrid, Spain.  I then returned to the US to teach Exploratory Spanish and Spanish for High School credit at Pearland Junior High East and also became an adjunct instructor at Alvin Community College. 

My passion for learning soon sent me to Tucson, AZ where I completed my PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching with a major in Psycholinguistics and a minor in Spanish Syntax.  While at the University of Arizona I taught Spanish 101, 102, 202, 325 and 425.  I also helped run the Spanish Summer Camp for grades 4-8.  I was additionally an adjunct for the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences where I taught junior level linguistics.  After returning to Texas from Tucson, I taught Spanish 1 and dual credit Spanish 1 and 2 at Pearland High School.  I love being here at First Colony Middle School!

My service dog, Sombra, and I are excited to be at First Colony Middle School teaching 8th grade Spanish 1!
