I was born in Des Moines, Iowa but escaped the cold as soon as possible! I moved to Texas as a youngster and attended schools in Clear Creek ISD in League City, Texas. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I took education classes at the University of Houston -- Downtown. I earned my B.A. in Urban Education (’01) and my M.A. in Educational Administration (’07), both from the University of Houston.
I have been teaching for 16 years, and I thoroughly enjoy what I do. My professional experience includes teaching English, Teen Leadership, AVID, Speech, and Journalism. James Bowie Middle School is a great place to work, and I value working with a caring and collaborative 7th grade ELA team.
I am mom to an artsy 5th grader and wife to a math teacher & soccer coach. In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, attending UTSA football games with my family, and shopping at local farmers markets. I believe family comes first. As a working parent, I strive to maintain a balance between being present with my family and being passionate about my classroom.
I am genuinely in the high-risk category for Covid complications. Without question, this adds an extra layer of difficulty to this school year. I still don't know what to expect, but I can tell you that I have more excitement than anxiety in my heart. As always, I am willing to do my professional best to make sure my students are well educated and cared for in my classroom, whether that be virtual or in person. I enjoy teaching with technology, so I am excited to see technical skills grow alongside the academics. We will navigate this pandemic experience together and make changes, as needed. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns about my classes, and I will be happy to visit with you.
