It is great to be here at Oakland Elementary for the 2020/2021 school year! My name is Miss Jessica Langford, and I will be teaching K- 5 grade physical education. This is my first year teaching in the Fort Bend Independent School District. I have taught physical education for eight years at a public charter school in Austin, Texas. I grew up in the Houston area. I graduated from The University at Austin in 2012 with an undergrad degree in Applied Learning Development with a minor in kinesiology. Later, I graduated from Concordia University- Texas with a masters in Sports Administration in 2016. I played sports throughout my childhood and still love to participate in play, no matter what sport, as an adult. I have played and coached women’s tackle football for six years and won a championship in 2018 with the Houston Energy.
In my classes I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, over a must win attitude. I find sport/exercise to be a great stress reliever, escape from frustrations, and an opportunity to strengthen one’s self no matter winning or losing. I believe in the value of arming kids with practical, lifelong health skills, which cross over subject matter and develop character.
