Purpose: The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Four main purposes guide the DHS chapter of NHS: “To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.”
Meetings: First Wednesday of every month from 2:50-3:15 PM in the cafeteria.
Requirements: Junior or Senior, 4.5 or greater GPA, 8 hours of service per semester to include an ISP (Individual Service Project), and exemplary character. Members must attend all meetings, complete service hours, and meet all deadlines.
Prospective Members: Your complete applications (general application form, leadership essay, previous list of service hours, 3 NHS-approved service hours, travel form, medical form--please check your e-mail) are due November 8th; Character Assessments are due November 8th
