Teaching has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  My mom taught at Meadows Elementary and I was fortunate enough to be able to attend there with her during my elementary years.  I later attended Dulles Middle School and graduated from Dulles High School.  My sister and I would often sit around the table helping my mom make bulletin boards and talking about her student’s grades and behavior.  I grew up grading papers, helping come up with ideas, and even bribing her students to have good behavior.  It was then I realized that teaching was in my blood and I wanted to make it my profession.  I have taught kindergarten, second, third, and fourth graders throughout my 30 year teaching career.  My favorite grade of all is kindergarten, where all the learning truly begins! 

I have two children, ages 24 and 15. Austin graduated last year with his MBA at St. Edwards University.  He and his high school sweetheart, Grace, married last year and just celebrated their first anniversary!  We are so blessed to have her join our family.  Ansley is going into 10th grade at Dulles High School and loves shopping, art, and being an athletic trainer.  They both attended Highlands with me from kindergarten through fifth grade and loved every minute of this amazing school.  They would often sit at the table cutting, coloring, and giving me some fresh new ideas to use to better connect with my students.  Not to be left out, my husband returned to school to get his teaching certificate.  He is in his eleventh year of coaching and has never been happier.  We now talk about our day and he truly understands what it feels like to be a rock star during the day…no other job brings that joy!
