My name is Shireen Abughazaleh, and I am so happy to be here! This is my 14th year in education, and I am excited to be the school counselor for 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades at Malala. I have previously worked as a school counselor in both middle and high school. I attended the University of Houston for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees—Go Coogs! As a school counselor, my responsibility is to support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, help them develop positive relationships, teach coping skills, and provide guidance to families and staff. I provide counseling individually, in small groups, and through classroom guidance lessons. I look forward to working together to create a positive and nurturing school environment.
I am married and have three wonderful children. My family and I love traveling and spending time outdoors. In my personal time, I enjoy taking walks with friends, reading, and baking cookies and cakes. These activities help me relax and recharge so I can bring my best to the students and staff every day.
Ms. Emily Wiltz
(PreK/Kinder, 2nd & 4th Grade)
Greetings! As we step into a brand-new academic year, I am thrilled to kick off this journey with you. My name is Emily M Wiltz, and I am excited about joining Malala Yousafzai Elementary and the Fort Bend ISD community. I've been an educator for over 20 years, and a school counselor for 4 years in both Alief and Spring Branch ISD. I have experience at the middle school and high school levels, along with school mental health, and alternative education programs.
As a school counselor and advocate, I provide support to our students in their academics, career, character building, and personal/social. I believe it is important to provide support in all areas to assist our students in becoming productive and resilient individuals in school as well as in the community. Education is important and I am here to help all our students L.E.A.P. forward with grit and integrity. As an educator, counselor, and a lifelong learner, I know that this year will be filled with exciting opportunities, new beginnings, and a sense of community as we come together to make this school year one of growth, learning, and memorable experiences.
