Mrs. Sanchez
Hello everyone!
I'm Mrs. Sanchez. I have the honor of being your child's 5th-grade teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. I'm thrilled to join the MYE family and look forward to getting to know you. This is my first year at Malala and my 8th year as a teacher. Previously, I taught at Harmony Science Academy, with a focus on STEM education in 5th grade. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where all students can achieve their educational goals.
I'm originally from Austin, where I graduated from Lanier High School - home of the "Mighty Vikings"! I earned my bachelor's degree from Texas State University in San Marcos back when it was called Southwest Texas State University or SWT for short!
In 1997, I moved to Richmond, where I worked as an Adult Educator for the Cancer Society & the Diabetes Association, earned my ESL & EC - 6 teaching certificate from the University of Houston, & met my husband of 22 years. We have 3 kids. Our oldest daughter, who is 19, is a sophomore at Caltech in Pasadena, California, and works at the Hixon Writing Center. Our son is 18, a freshman at UT Austin, and works as an AV Technician for the Texas Union & runs his own Web Development business part-time. Our youngest daughter is 15, a sophomore in high school, enjoys horse riding, and is a member of TSA & Junior Achievement.
I love spending time with family & friends, working in my garden, going to the beach, the movies, or going for a walk.
Thank you for entrusting me with your child's education. I look forward to working with you and your child to make this a memorable year. I believe in partnering with parents and having an open line of communication, so don't hesitate to contact me at Eva.Sanchez@fortbendisd.com, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's academic goals.
Have a great 2023 - 2024 school year.
