All Fort bend ISD campuses provide needed speech therapy services to IDEA eligible students regardless of grade or income. The district provides for early identification of speech therapy services through Child Find for students as early as age three. Students receiving speech therapy are served in the areas of articulation, semantics, grammar, pragmatics, language comprehension, and fluency. Services are provided to remove/or reduce the effect of those conditions which may negatively affect academic proficiency. Janis. Young is currently providing speech services for Crockett Middle School.
Early identification is crucial. Parents of toddlers with speech concerns should contact the district Special Education office at 281-634-1359 to participate in monthly screening processes. Students already enrolled in school which are failing crucial tests or academics are routinely considered for services through the campus IST committee review. Parents of students with speech related concerns may contact their grade level administrator when they suspect that speech concerns are directly affecting academic success.
