    Maverick Orchestras

The award-winning David Crockett Middle School Orchestra continues its legacy of excellence. Since the orchestra's inaugural season, the DCMS Maverick Orchestra has grown in the number of musicians and continues earning medals and trophies of excellence at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest, and festivals. The DCMS Orchestras perform quality repertoire with a strong commitment to artistic excellence and community involvement.
Our orchestra students model all attributes of Fort Bend ISD's Profile of a Graduate. Along with musical skills on their orchestral string instruments, students demonstrate unyielding work ethic, self-initiation, collaboration and teamwork, compassion, and grit. Community involvement and pristine performances are key to the program's success. Students begin community involvement by reaching out to students at our school. Furthermore, our more experienced musicians, including those who have graduated DCMS and moved onto high school, provide tutorials and teach private lessons to our less experienced orchestra students. The majority of our students also serve DCMS as school athletes, tutors, black history month performers, club and NJHS members, and musicians in our other music fine art departments, band and choir.
The orchestras rehearse daily in class. Our performing ensembles, Symphony, Chamber Strings, and the DCMS Full Orchestra, also attend weekly technique sectionals and ensemble rehearsals. Each orchestra also works with world-class clinicians to further develop their technique and refine their repertoire. For more information about our orchestras, please contact Mr. Hairston, the director of orchestras, via email or office phone. Parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and our community are encouraged to attend all performances, concerts, and contests throughout the orchestral season. Furthermore, parents and guardians are also able to attend our daily in-class rehearsals by appointment with Mr. Hairston or DCMS administration.

    We are Maverick Made,

    Maverick Proud!
