Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction
Mr. Cliff Thomas, M.Ed.
Greetings, my name is Mr. Cliff Thomas M.Ed. and I am your Mathematics educator for David Crockett Middle Schools. My educational background is I have a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and a Master’s degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Reading. Currently, I am pursuing my principal certificate at Lamar University. I also coach the 7th grade football team here at David Crockett Middle School.
As far as my education journey, I began teaching school in local charter schools and decided to transfer into the public-school system. I began my career at Albert Thomas Middle School in October 2005 as an hourly lecturer and moved into a permanent teaching position once I completed my certification requirements. During my tenure at the school, I have served as a mentor teacher, IAT team, Math Teacher Specialist, Title I Coordinator, New Teacher Coordinator, and Teacher Specialist.
As for my decision to become an administrator, it is simple. The first reason being, I have a lifetime commitment to learning and being an administrator will continually require me to refine my skills to adapt to all children. Next, I know I can affect the lives of the students I serve and come in contact with. Many times I have met and talked with students about obstacles I have had to overcome in order to get where I am at today. I will be as transparent as possible to allow the student to see, no matter your circumstances, you can be successful. Next, I also possess the uncanny ability to be able to work with multiple people and be able to produce results.
I am a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Keystone Lodge #118, and the Houston Area Alliance of Black Educators.
One of my favorite quotes is, the ultimate measure of a man is not where he sits in times of comfort but where he stands in times of turmoil.
