Jennifer Hillen

Jennifer Hillen is currently in her eighteenth year of teaching and her first year as the Director of Orchestras at Dulles High School. Mrs. Hillen holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University and two Master degrees in Music Education and Cello Performance from Arizona State University.

Mrs. Hillen began her career at Cinco Ranch Junior High in Katy ISD where her orchestra performed at the 2008 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois and was named the Texas Honor Junior High Full Orchestra for 2010. During her career in Texas, she served as an adjudicator for UIL concert and sight-reading contests as well as the conductor and clinician for TMEA region orchestras.

In 2013, Mrs. Hillen moved to the Phoenix area. While in Arizona, she taught elementary strings, completed graduate school, and was the Assistant Orchestra Director for the Highland High School and Highland Junior High Orchestras in Gilbert, Arizona. Mrs. Hillen has also worked as a mentor teacher with the Arizona State University String Project and as a university supervisor for student teachers in the Phoenix area.

Mrs. Hillen has been the Director of Orchestras at Klein High School for the past four years. She looks forward to returning to Dulles High School, her alma mater, and making music and new memories with the Dulles HS Orchestra family.

Mrs. Hillen is a former Texas All-State cellist and enjoys performing whenever possible. She has performed with the Waco Symphony, Galveston Symphony, and the Houston Sinfonietta. Mrs. Hillen has also been active as a chamber music performer in both the Houston and Phoenix areas. Before her teaching career, she performed at the Bach Festival in Leipzig, Germany and toured with the Orchestra of the Americas conducted by Carlos Miguel Prieto in Central and South America.

Mrs. Hillen and her husband live in Houston with their two dogs, Phoebe and Daisy.
