Welcome to fourth grade! My name is Tanya Turner and I will teach reading, writing, and social studies this year.  This will be my 17th year at Oyster Creek Elementary and my second year in 4th grade. For eleven of those sixteen years, I worked as the kindergarten aide here at OCE. Working with children has been something that I have always found rewarding and that is why I decided to go back to school to get my degree in elementary education to be a classroom teacher.  I love teaching and watching children grow and learn, especially here at OCE! 

I have a wonderful husband and five children -three girls and two boys.  All five of my children have graduated from FBISD schools.  My daughters have graduated from college and my youngest daughter is in her second year of medical school this fall. My youngest son will be a junior in college this fall, studying engineering. Family and teaching are very important to me. I strive to instill a life-long love of learning in all my students. I love being a parent as well as an educator. 

I look forward to working with your students and getting to know each one of them. My goal for your students is to help them achieve their full potential through positive and engaging interactions in the classroom.  Communication with parents is key to student success.
