Mrs. Vanessa John

Welcome Cornerstone Chameleon Families! My name is Vanessa John, and I am proud to serve as your child’s 4th Grade Reading, Writing, and Social Studies teacher. This is my 10th year teaching at Cornerstone Elementary and my 24th year in Fort Bend ISD.

Before becoming a classroom teacher, I worked for 14 years in the FBISD Extended Learning Program, where I developed a deep appreciation for creating enriching, student-centered learning environments. Teaching at Cornerstone since 2015 has been an incredible journey. I’m proud to work at a campus that values relationships, excellence, and lifelong learning.

I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, where I grew up surrounded by citrus groves and strong family roots. I spent my early years in the Mission/McAllen area before moving to Sugar Land, which has been my family’s home ever since. I am a proud graduate of Kempner High School, the University of Houston–Downtown (B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Psychology), and Lamar University (M.Ed. in Educational Administration).

My greatest joy is my family—I have a wonderful husband, a sweet daughter named Annabella, and a playful goldendoodle who keeps us all on our toes. I believe every student brings something special to our classroom, and I strive to create a space where all learners feel valued, challenged, and inspired. In my classroom, we are authors, leaders, deep thinkers, questioners, community-builders, and changemakers.

I am honored to be part of your child’s educational journey and can’t wait for the exciting year ahead!

"Every child deserves a champion—someone who will never give up on them." – Rita Pierson
