Cornerstone Elementary School
-
Cornerstone Elementary, located in the Telfair neighborhood of Sugar Land, opened its doors in the fall of 2007. Under the founding leadership of Christopher Winans, the school established a strong foundation rooted in academic and community excellence.
In 2016, Ms. Sonya Smith-Watson became principal, continuing the tradition of excellence that Cornerstone Elementary had achieved since its inception. In the fall of 2019, Ms. Margaret Murphy took on the role of principal, guiding the campus through the unprecedented challenges of a global pandemic and the shift to virtual learning.
Currently, Dr. Alexis Prudhomme serves as the principal of Cornerstone Elementary, continuing the legacy of success and innovation. Under Dr. Prudhomme’s leadership, the school implemented the Ron Clark Academy House System, fostering a vibrant sense of community, teamwork, and school spirit. Cornerstone Elementary is proudly "Leading the PAC" and is ranked in the top 1% of schools in the state of Texas, making it one of the best schools in Fort Bend ISD.
True to its mascot, the Chameleons, Cornerstone Elementary has continually evolved over the years. As the school transitions to a more focused enrollment, it is enhancing its ability to develop critical skills and provide individualized support to help students thrive. The campus continues to embrace advancements in technology and implement innovative teaching strategies and instructional practices.
Cornerstone Elementary remains steadfast in its dedication to the Fort Bend ISD mission: to equip, inspire, and prepare students for a future beyond what they can imagine.
