Welcome to 8th grade ELA! I am so excited to share my passion for language arts with my scholars this year! I joined Baines in August 2016 as an ELA teacher. Previously, I've taught English as a Second Language night classes for adults as well as sixth grade ELA. I've earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts from The University of Southern Mississippi and the University of New Orleans, respectively, in Mass Communications. I'm a Mississippi native; however, I've lived in Texas since 2006. In 2021, I was honored to receive the Houston Area Association for Black School Educators Award and in 2022, I was selected as the Baines MS Teacher of the Year, and went on to become a finalist for the FBISD Secondary Teacher of the Year Award.
