Mrs. Holliday

My name is Mrs. Holliday, and I will be your student's English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Literacy teacher for this school year. My certifications include all subjects self-contained 1-8, PK-12 ESL, Gifted and Talented, Dyslexia and more!  Although I have experience in other content areas, I have taught ELA for over 15 years at both the middle, high school and college levels.  Moreover, I have also served as ELA Team Leader (LOMS), ELA Department Head (DCMS), FBISD SAT Trainer, HISD Curriculum Reviewer, FBISD ELA Curriculum Writer and Neuhaus Dyslexia, Read180 Coach, and TEA State Testing Review Committee Member.  In addition to serving as a full-time teacher during the school year, I have also served as an official high school tutor for Sylvan Learning Centers and as a Kumon instructor in both Mathematics and English Language Arts content areas.

Celebrating and supporting the reading and writing of all ages is critical to advancing our nation's progress towards developing new breakthrough technologies.  Thus, I love celebrating the National Education Association's Read Across America month!  It is a special time that we can all pause to encourage literacy everywhere with everyone.

I am passionate about instruction and enjoy providing student-centered learning that gives students the opportunity to actively participate in discovery learning processes from an autonomous point of view.

Coursework includes:

•Thought provoking, challenging curriculum •Traditional and Non-traditional ELA/Literacy assignments •Collaborative team projects •Individual, self-paced assignments •Community engagement and Service-Learning assignments.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions throughout the school year.  I look forward to working with your student this school year!

"The principle goal of education is to create men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done-men who are creative, inventive and discoverers." -Jean Piaget
