Hello Warriors and Future Warriors!

My name is Mr. Burris and I am the Teacher-Librarian for Hodges Bend Middle School. I have been teaching for over 19 years and this is my 6th year in Fort Bend ISD. I attended Sam Houston State University, where I earned my Bachelor's of Arts in Education. I soon went back to school at Lamar University, where I earned my Master's in Educational Administration. Finally, I attended the University of North Texas to earn my School-Librarian Certification. 

My favorite genres are Fantasy and Science Fiction, but I enjoy all books. I strongly believe in children's choice when it comes to books. I strive to ensure that students always have books in their possession.  I see the HBMS Library as a workshop where students can come in and discover new ideas, expand upon ideas they already have, and use their imaginations to create. School libraries look different than when I was in school. We aren't quiet. We are conversing about our academics. We aren't just getting books. We discover new passions. Most of all, we come together to share in our ever expanding love of literacy and media.
