Dr. McDowell is a proud graduate of FBISD. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Houston and a Masters' Degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. She most recently completed her Doctoral program at Lamar University.

 

The 2024-2025 school year will be Dr. McDowell’s  24th year in education, all years in FBISD. She began her teaching career in FBISD in 2001, teaching Social Studies at Austin High School, and has also been a cheerleading coach and a Social Studies Department Chair. Prior to coming to DMS, she was an Assistant Principal at Kempner High School.

 

Her passion is helping everyone around her succeed, and her favorite quote comes from her love of Disney, “What if I fail? Oh but darling, what if you fly?”  Dr. McDowell has two loves of her life: her daughter Mackenzie, who is a 2022 graduate of AHS and is currently attending college in Arkansas, on a volleyball scholarship, and the other is Milo, her chocolate lab!
