Born and raised in Houston, TX, Mr. Short has been involved in music his entire life, from elementary school choirs, to touring rock bands, to the Houston Symphony. A 1999 TMEA All State Choir member, Mr. Short graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in Music in 2004 and has taught music of all types for several decades in a variety of arenas. Mr. Short has toured all over the world performing, served as an audio engineer, and even composed for film and video game soundtracks. Since joining DMS in 2021, the team of Mr. Short and Ms. Hinski has rebuilt the DMS Choir Program into a strong empire the kids resonate with and one that regularly receives awards and top scores in UIL competitions. 

Privately, Mr. Short is a professionally sponsored triathlete and marathon runner, ranking in the top 1% in the world within his age group. Key accomplishments include being a multiple sub-3 hour marathoner, IRONMAN World Championship Qualifier, Multiple Boston Marathon Qualifier, and NYTCS Qualifier. Mr. Short is also the Owner and Head Coach of Rampage Racing and Endurance and resides in Pearland.
