TELPAS, Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System, is a required assessment for students who are learning the English Language, and are classified as an Emergent Bilingual student. These students will continue to take the TELPAS every school year until they meet the eligibility requirements for reclassification. Requirements for reclassification are scoring at the Advanced High level for their Composite score and passing the STAAR Reading assessment. You can get more information about TELPAS on the TEA website: TELPAS Information
The testing window for TELPAS for this school year is February 17th through March 27th. Each Emergent Bilingual student will take two tests during this window, each on a different day. One test will cover Reading and Writing, and the other assessment will cover Listening and Speaking. Each test is untimed, which means they can use the entire school day (maximum of 7 hours) to complete each test.
