Hi! My name is Mrs. Hammond and I am so happy to call Schiff my home! I have been teaching for 17 years and this is my 7th year teaching 3rd grade at Jan Schiff. I hope that you are just as excited as I am to begin the new school year.
When I am not teaching or planning fun lessons for our class, I enjoy spending time with my family, going on road trips, having movie nights, and being a Girl Scouts Troop Leader. I live here in Sienna with my husband Richard, our amazing 12-year-old daughter Reagan, and our very busy 3-year-old son Carter. I am thrilled to be a part of an amazing community doing a job I love.
Teaching is my absolute passion. I could not imagine myself doing anything else. I consider myself very lucky because I am blessed to have a job that does not feel like a “job”. In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. One of the most important goals for me as a teacher is to build community in my classroom. Making my diverse students feel like a united group of individuals who care for each other and work together is what I strive for as each new school year begins. I believe in structure, great classroom management, building relationships, and making learning fun every day!
I also believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage parents to contact me if they have any questions or concerns at any time. I will do my part by keeping the lines of communication flowing through our 3rd Grade Newsletter and Weekly emails.
I’m SUPER excited to spend the next year learning and growing with you! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures. Welcome to the "Hammonator" Team!
