Hello and Welcome to 3rd Grade!

I am so happy to call Schiff my home! This is my 11th year teaching 3^rd grade at Jan Schiff. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's in Biology & Math. A few years later, I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Houston Baptist University. When I am not teaching or planning fun lessons for our class, I enjoy spending time with my family. I love sports, going on road trips, having movie/game nights, Christmas, and hanging out at the beach. I live here in Sienna with my husband Richard, our amazing 16-year-old daughter Reagan, and our very busy 7-year-old son Carter. I am happy to be a part of the amazing Sienna community doing a job I love. 

Teaching is my absolute passion. I could not imagine myself doing anything else. I consider myself very lucky because I am blessed to have a job that does not feel like a “job”.  In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect.  One of the most important goals for me as a teacher is to build a community in my classroom. A classroom isn’t just a place where students put in effort and get a grade...it should be a space where relationships fuel curiosity, engagement, and deep learning. Making my diverse students feel like a united group of individuals who care for each other and work together is what I strive for as each new school year begins.  I believe in structure, great classroom management, building relationships, student accountability, and making learning fun every day! 

I am absolutely THRILLED to spend the next year learning and growing with you! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures. Welcome to the "Hammonator" Team!
