From the Attendance Office
Dear Parents/Guardian,
Welcome to Quail Valley Middle school home of the Raiders. I hope that this year will bring good things for our students. I want to give you some information regarding the attendance procedure for the this school year.
When your student is absent from school, the parent/guardian must either email the campus Attendance Clerk (attendanceqvms@fortbendisd.com) or the student must provide a note signed and dated by the parent/guardian which describes the reason for the absence and which includes the parent’s contact numbers. The email or note must be presented within five school days of the student’s return. Failure to do so will result in the absences being coded as Unexcused.
- Doctor’s Note after an absence for illness
- Upon return to school, a student absent for four or more consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school. Notes must be turned in within five school days of the student’s return to campus. Otherwise, the student’s absence may be considered unexcused and, if so, would be considered to be in violation of compulsory attendance laws. (Student Parent Handbook page 20).
- A student who is late to class 19 minute or less may be counted tardy. If the student arrives to class 20 minutes or more into the class period, the student will be counted late. Please make sure that you speak with your student on the importance of making it to class on time.
I also would like to let you know that you may fax a note or doctor’s note to me and I have included my number. If you have any questions about the attendance procedures please contact me at 281-634-3614.
Hope you have a wonderful school year.
