Hello! My name is Shannon Brumley-Monreal, or Ms. Brumley for short. I love being a part of the Raider family!
This is my fourth year as a middle-school librarian and 12th year working as an instructor in public education; before becoming a library media specialist, I spent four years as a language arts and reading teacher as well as four years as a special education teacher. My bachelor's degree -- as well as my first career -- was creating television news websites/producing news casts in various cities across the U.S.
My goal as a librarian is to increase students literacy as a whole -- not just with books, but also with technology and their other subjects as well. When students realize how they learn and how to apply that ability to other skill sets, their education improves.
Because literacy takes many forms, please know that I will integrate technology into the library lessons; on their library-lesson day (and with your permission), students are allowed to bring a device (smart phone or tablet) to work with. To ensure that things go quickly, if they could also have a QR code scanner downloaded on their phones, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions about the library or literacy, feel free to email me.
Have a great year!
