Welcome QVMS Family!

Hello! My name is Shannon Woods. I am happy to be a part of the Raider family!

I've been in education since Blackberries were a popular tech tool ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ). Before becoming a library media specialist, I was a language arts and reading teacher as well as a special education teacher. My Bachelor's degree - as well as my first career - was creating television news websites/producing newscasts in various cities across the U.S.

My goal as a librarian is to increase students' literacy as a whole -- not just with books, but also with technology and their other subjects as well. When students realize how they learn and how to apply that ability to other skill sets, their education improves.

In my free time, I am a caffeine-addicted nerd, dedicated wife, middle-school mom, multi-faceted crafter, and voracious reader myself: I generally like all things spooky, scary, or thrilling, and I think the best times are spent under a country night sky so dark your eyes can't innumerate the stars.

As always, I'm available to parents, students, and teachers alike. If you have any questions about the library or literacy, feel free to email me.

     Have a great year!

  • Library operating hours (unless otherwise scheduled) are 8:20 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. The classes come to the library based on a rotation set by their reading and social studies teachers, but students can always ask any classroom teacher for a pass.
