I look forward to teaching my students 5th grade ELA and Social Studies this year at Oakland.  This will be my 10th year here at Oakland Elementary.  Before coming to Oakland, I taught in Houston ISD where I taught 4th grade Science.  I am a product of Fort Bend ISD and went on to the University of Houston.  At UH, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant management.  Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, I am able to apply a lot of real world knowledge to the subjects I teach.

I have two children, David, Freshman at University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA - Go Roadrunners!) and Gabi (Freshman at Hightower HS).  I have been married to my husband, Candido, for 19 years.  My passions in life are traveling & camping, cooking, New Orleans Saints, singing/playing guitar, being outdoors and spending time with my family. I am one of the coding and robotics sponsors here at Oakland.  Also, I am the Scoutmaster for my son's former BSA Troop 103 in Missouri City.  Traveling is a big part of my life and I love collecting magnets from all the different countries and places I have visited. 

I look forward to another great year with my students and will enjoy seeing them grow!
