About Counseling

  • Welcome to a new school year! I am very excited about being a part of such a great school.  The 2023-2024 school year will be my 19th year at Burton Elementary.  I am very excited to work with the WBE community, students, parents, and faculty.  

    The school counselor assists school personnel and parents in addressing the academic, social, and emotional concerns of students.  As the counselor, I am available to provide developmental guidance, individual or group counseling, and parent conferences.

    Professional School Counselors are available at Burton Elementary School to provide a Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program and services for all students in the areas of:
    • Guidance Curriculum - In an effort to help students develop competence in essential life skills
    • Responsive Services - Provide intervention for immediate personal/social/emotional concerns
    • Individual Planning - Provide guidance to help students plan, monitor, and manage their personal, educational and career goals, and facilitate transition activities for post-secondary education and/or training
    • System Support - Support campus staff, parents, and community to promote the educational, career, personal, and social development of students, as well as the Developmental Guidance Program

     

     

  • Our campus is partnering with Invo IMPACT this year to work with students and families struggling with social/emotional issues at home and/or school. A licensed therapist with experience in providing trauma-informed care will work to deliver in-school interventions to help students succeed and classrooms run more effectively. Therapists will work during our school’s hours to closely collaborate with school staff and administrators and offer individualized student support.
