Lakisha Anthony, Principal
Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year. I am excited about beginning a new successful school year here at Walter Moses Burton Elementary!
After graduating from Sam Houston State University, I began my career in Fort Bend ISD in 2000 as a fourth grade teacher at Ridgegate Elementary. I served the RGE community for seven years. From there I became a Campus Improvement/Data Specialist in FBISD. I served as assistant principal of Oakland Elementary for three years before becoming principal of Barbara Jordan Elementary.
I look forward to a great year of growth and learning with the WBE Sheriff Family.
Jamila Rogers, Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am looking forward to working with the Burton Family. I have over 20 years of experience as an educator. Before I began my journey with Fort Bend ISD, I started my teaching career as a 4th grade teacher with Houston ISD. Since then, I have served as an Instructional Coach, Elementary Math Curriculum Specialist, Teacher Development Specialist and Academic Facilitator. Most recently, I have served as an Administrator in Dallas ISD and for the last two years as an Assistant Principal in Fort Bend ISD.
A loud and proud UH Cougar, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and a Master of Educational Administration Degree from the University of Houston -Victoria. I believe that being an educator is truly part of who I am. The excitement you see on a student’s face when they are learning is very gratifying. Knowing that I’m helping to create a lasting love for learning is what makes it so wonderful. Education is a rewarding profession and I am excited to be able to continue this journey with Burton Elementary School.
