My name is Ruth Schmalz. I was born and grew up in San Marcos, TX. I went to college at Texas State University and earned a degree in Psychology with a minor in Family and Child Development. I later went back to school in the field of Education and earned a Teaching Certificate for Early Childhood through 6th grade. I also earned my ESL certification. I have been teaching for over 20 years in numerous capacities such as leading classes at my church, long term substitute in military schools, and long term substitute roles in numerous schools throughout South Texas. This is my 3rd year with FBISD at Madden Elementary. I am a Kindergarten teacher at Madden and previously taught 2nd grade. My husband, two sons, and I live in Richmond, TX. We have lived here for 15 years. Our family enjoys sports together like football and baseball. I enjoy baking, sewing, all kinds of crafts, photography, walks with our two Golden Retrievers, any activity outdoors, and of course time with my family.
