Hello Husky Family! My name is Ruth Schmalz. I was born and raised in San Marcos, TX. I went to college at Texas State University and earned a degree in Psychology with a minor in Family and Child Development. I also completed my education for a Teaching Certificate for Early Childhood through 6th grade. I am ESL certified and GT certified. I have been teaching for over 20 years in numerous capacities, such as leading classes at my church, long-term substitute teaching in various military schools, and long-term substitute teaching in numerous schools throughout South Texas. This is my 7th year with FBISD at Madden Elementary. I feel truly blessed to be your child's Kindergarten teacher at Madden! I understand and appreciate how formative and precious this first year of school is for both your child and for you as parents of a little Husky! I also previously taught 2nd grade at Madden. My husband, sons, and I live in Richmond, TX. We have lived here for 19 years and love our community. Our family enjoys sporting events together, like football and baseball. We love the Houston Texans, Astros, and the Aggies. I enjoy baking, sewing, all kinds of crafts, photography, walks with our two Golden Retrievers, and time with my family.
