Hey there! My name is Kayla MacCurdy and I am teaching fifth-grade Math and Science this year. I was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas surrounded by my large family. I attended Fort Bend ISD schools and graduated from I.H. Kempner High School. I am so honored to be teaching in the same district that left a lasting impression on my heart.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in General Education Early Childhood to 6th grade from Sam Houston State Univerisity (Eat'em Up Kats)! I am also certified to teach Gifted and Talented students as well as English Language Learners.
I live in Sugar Land with my mom, Carol MacCurdy and our two dogs, Abby and Baby. Abby and I enjoy spending time going hiking and spending time outdoors. Whenever Abby and I are not hiking, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a proud aunt to my eight year old nephew, Jake.
Besides spending time outdoors with my dog or spending time with my family, I love to spend time at the beach, traveling, exercising, and spending time with friends. I love to eat Mexican food, assemble puzzles, and sit around a good camp fire. Some of my favorite things include watching Houston sports teams, watching Longhorn football, and shopping for good deals.
I love to travel and see beauty even in the most common things of life. I would love to travel to every continent and even one day be able to teach abroad. During all my travels, I have gained so much life experience and have gained an appreciation of many different cultures.
My Motto: To see beauty even in the common things of life
I can do anything through Christ who stregthens me!
