National Board Certification Master of Education in Divergent Learning Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education
Mrs. Kristin Hutchison
My name is Kristin Hutchison, and I am thrilled to be the Dyslexia Teacher at Austin Parkway Elementary. I LOVE being a member of the APE family and am looking forward to a great school year.
I graduated from The University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and from Columbia College with a Master of Education in Divergent Learning. My husband, daughter, and I moved to Texas in June 2015 from South Carolina, and we love our life in The Lone Star State. Before joining Fort Bend ISD in 2015, I taught in South Carolina public schools for 17 years.
I am passionate about helping students discover their strengths as learners. My teaching philosophy is best summed up in this quote by George Evans: “Every child can learn. Just not on the same day or in the same way.”
Each year, my goal is to build a classroom community where students feel safe, supported, and confident to take risks. In our classroom, mistakes are not setbacks—they are stepping stones. When we stumble, we reflect, learn, and grow stronger. By embracing challenges and persevering through failure, we build resilience and move closer to success.
I look forward to celebrating both the small victories and the big breakthroughs with my students this year!
