I have spent my whole career teaching in Fort Bend ISD.  I am certified in Elementary Education, as a Reading Specialist, and as a Reading Recovery teacher.  I have always felt at home in the classroom and love encouraging children to believe in themselves, think, try new things, and explore the world through books and knowledge.
   I was raised in Amarillo, Texas by wonderful parents with 4 sisters and 3 brothers.  I participated in several sports and swam for the varsity swim team in high school.  I graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising.  Later, I went to The University of Houston to get my Masters in Education and began teaching in 1986.
   I have two WONDERFUL children.  My son, Jonathan, graduated from A&M with a degree in construction engineering in 2017, and is working in Austin, TX.  My daughter, Jamie, graduated from The University of Texas in Austin in 2018 with an honors degree in Rhetoric and Sociology.  Jamie returned to UT as a TA and graduate student and graduated in August 2022 with her Master's degree.  She is still working as a TA in the Communications Department and is working on her PhD in Political Rhetoric.  
  In addition to teaching, I spend my time hiking and attending Zumba class.  I enjoy gardening, drawing, painting, scrap booking, and reading.  Of course, I also appreciate time visiting my children in Austin.
