Welcome to the 2023 Fort Bend Computer Coding Club!
Our club begins on Thursday, September 21, 2023 and will run from 7:35-8:05. The clubs will then meet regularly every other Thursday(s) through April 2024. Students will meet in the QVE library.
The Computer Coding Club will be a great opportunity for students to learn some new technology skills! Each day we will learn by solving programming challenges and working together with our teammates. We will be using Turtle Art, Scratch, Lego Robotics, Dash, and other software and tools during the club.
During the club we will also share many resources through our Coding Club Schoology Course. This will be a resource where students may go for job aids and other information related to programming.
Also, in addition to the coding club we would like to make you aware of other opportunities that your student may be interested in:
Coding Camp
The district holds a Coding Camp where students have the opportunity to learn skills and interact with various tools related to programming. The camp is tentatively planned for Saturday, January 21st. For more information, please check the Coding Camp webpage @ https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/95480. All information and registration will go through the website but as we find out information we will share through campus communications such as newsletters and emails.
Coding Competition
Students may participate in a coding completion hosted through the district. Projects are usually due around mid-February. Students may create their project using any programming software, but the most common software used are Turtle Art and Scratch. The categories for the project are Art, Animation, and Video Games. As a club we will discuss this competition and support students that are interested in entering a project. For details related to the competition and the rules please check out the Coding Competition webpage @ https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/121549.
We also would like to thank Fort Bend ISD, Fort Bend Education Foundation and Schlumberger for providing support towards the coding clubs in the district. We are looking forward to meeting and working with your children!
We know that all students will come excited to learn and will proudly represent their school in attitude and behavior. If you have any questions, please reach out.
