Hi! My name is Joy Lewallen. I was born and raised in South Texas on a farm. 

I graduated college from the University of Houston with a bachelors degree in education and a masters degree in curriculum and instruction.  

I have been a teacher at Meadows Elementary since the second year it was open. As the Meadows Reading Specialist, I work to strengthen reading and writing skills with dyslexic students. I love being able to see the progress of students and help them realize their full potential. I work closely with my colleagues to provide instructional support and ensure student growth.

I graduated from The University of Houston with a B.S.Ed. in Education and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.  I minored in literature, so my passion in teaching has always been reading and writing.  After 38 years in the classroom, I became a Reading/Dyslexia Specialist.  I have been teaching at the Meadows since 1975 and still love teaching boys and girls to read.  It has been fun to be a part of the Meadows family for so long that I  now teach the children of former students.
