Mrs. Kayla Castillo
Hello, my name is Kayla Castillo, and I am the Campus Compliance Coordinator at Meadows Elementary. In my role, I support students, families, and staff with Special Education and Section 504 services, and I also serve as the State Testing Coordinator for our campus.
My background includes extensive experience as a special education teacher across various age groups, including Resource, Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), and the equivalent of Succeeding in Academic and Independent Living Skills (SAILS) program in Alvin ISD.
Inspired by my sister, who uses cochlear implants to hear despite being born deaf, I am profoundly committed to supporting diverse learning needs. My perspective is enriched by my experiences as an educator, parent, and family member, which equips me to effectively support children with multifaceted approach.
In my role as Campus Compliance Coordinator I support staff and families as follows:
Schedule ARD and Section 504 Meetings: Arrange and coordinate meetings with campus staff, students, and families to address educational needs and accommodations.
Complete and Coordinate Paperwork: Prepare, organize, and manage all necessary documentation related to ARD and Section 504 meetings.
Assist with Communication: Facilitate effective communication between assessment teams and instructional services to ensure alignment and support.
Ensure Compliance: Support the campus in adhering to federal and state regulations related to special education and student accommodations.
Maintain Eligibility Folders: Oversee and update student eligibility folders, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
Coordinate State Testing Programs: Manage the logistics of state testing programs, including maintaining the security of testing materials and ensuring proper administration.
