Mr. Byron Davis
Howdy! My name is Byron Davis and I am happy to be in Fort Bend teaching! I was born in Sharpstown and then grew up in Georgetown, just north of Austin.
I attended the University of Dallas. I studied elementary education with some amazing professors that I still idolize as educational role models. Their love of learning has certainly rubbed off on me. I then began teaching fourth grade in Irving, Texas. I soon pursued my masters in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on Reading and Literacy. My course project was actually a literacy unit tied to the Texas Revolution.
I then taught in South Korea for 3 years. It was while I was the instructor of a literature class at a university program there, that I could see the growth that was made by students in a discussion-based learning environment. No longer is the emphasis on "What do you think?", but rather "Why do you think that?".
I brought that experience back with me when I came back to Texas. I taught in Hearne and in Nacogdoches before getting to Austin Parkway.
I have a real passion for teaching, in particular 4th grade. I'm always learning some little side fact that I find riveting about Texas that I enjoy sharing with my students. I love the growth that students make in reading and writing in this grade. I enjoy watching their self-confidence rocket to the moon.
My wife is a lifelong learner and loves to hear about how excited my students were about lessons that I've brainstormed in front of her. We have three amazing sons together who are adorably handsome and incredibly hilarious. We also have a new daughter who is precious.
I'm a Sailor through and through, and I believe in what Austin Parkway is doing because my own children attend this campus.
