Lori Hoeffken began her career as a first-grade teacher in Alief ISD and moved to the Fort Bend ISD family in 1996. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas with a few short years in California during her teens. She graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, followed by her Master of Education from Grand Canyon University. Throughout her 15 years as a teacher, Mrs. Hoeffken was named Teacher of the Year in 2002 and 2007. She continues her education by participating in administrative professional learning opportunities for school improvement, to inspire and equip students and teachers to become leaders and life-long learners.

Mrs. Hoeffken knew from an early age that she wanted to become a teacher.  Teaching students and other educators has been her passion for over 20 years. Her dedication and determination lead her to the realization of her dream to open a new campus. She is now working faithfully to build a team of educators with a shared vision of a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for the students of FBISD.

Mrs. Hoeffken served as principal and assistant principal in FBISD for the past 14 years, and was proud to have been chosen to lead James C. Neill Elementary for the past 5 of those years.

As an educator, Mrs. Hoeffken firmly believes that all students have the capacity to make academic and social growth when embraced in a caring environment, that encourages independence, integrity, acceptance, and problem solving. She feels that strong school-home relationships are at the root of all successful educational environments and always emphasizes respect, collaboration, and open communication between the students, parents, teachers, and community members.

Mrs. Hoeffken lives in Richmond, with her husband, their three precious Chihuahuas, Bella, Jack, and Maizy, and red-heeler, Max; their son and daughter were both graduates of Travis High School.  Mrs. Hoeffken is proud that both of their children are products of Fort Bend ISD schools! Her daughter has carried on the tradition, and is now teaching in FBISD!  In her spare time, she enjoys camping and relaxing at the river and LOVES puzzles!

I am honored to serve as an Assistant Principal for James C. Neill Elementary School. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where families, students, faculty and staff care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.  I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty years.  I have worked with a variety of students' ranging in age from Pre-Kindergarten through high school. My educational belief is that the school community collaboratively work together to support growth and learning. The students are the most important members of a school community in that all of what we do is for their current learning and future endeavors. My specific belief is that with love, service, and care, we, as a school community work collaboratively to develop futures for all students beyond what they can imagine. It’s the Neill way!
